Candlemas

Candlemas: The Feast of the Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple. Exactly 40 days after the great Feast of Christmas. Candles are brought to be blessed and used throughout the year to remind us that Christ is the light to all the Nations and the glory of his People Israel. This day has been chosen by the Church for a very important ceremony, the solemn blessing of candles, whence the day is often called Candlemas.
