All Saints’ Day has its origins in the early Christian Church, where it was established as a day to remember and celebrate the martyrs and other saints who had died for their faith. Emperor Phocas gifted the Roman Pantheon to Pope Boniface IV, who rededicated it to the Virgin Mary and all martyrs on May 13, 609
